UMFS began in 1900 as a Methodist chartered orphanage in Virginia. With 12 branches throughout Virginia (including here in Lynchburg), UMFS has helped 8,500 children and families just this year through foster care, adoption services, adolescent crisis help, skill-building programs, and healthy family living programs.
UMFS has requested Peakland donate gift cards in amounts of $10-$50 for specific items (pizza, Starbucks, Wal-Mart, Target), restaurant cards up to $50 and Gas cards in $25 increments. This will allow UMFS to provide immediate funds for families in need.
Chase the Chill is once again collecting cozy, handmade items for the
Lynchburg community. We’d love your knitted or crocheted hats, gloves, and scarves to help spread warmth this season. While store-bought donations are also welcome, there’s something extra special about handmade gifts!
Salvation Army Stockings have arrived. You can find them on the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall or just outside the Sanctuary in the Narthex. Please make sure you get a stocking and a Santa flap closure with a direction sheet.
Stockings can be returned to the office anytime between now and MissionFest, Sunday, Dec. 8.
